DASAAVATAARAM

Description of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu as narrated by Jayadeva, it is done as a solo as well as group item. C V Chandrasekhar has composed the music in 11 classical ragas. The interpretation in Bharatanaatyam to Swati Tirunal’s Dasavataram, a Raagamaalika varnam, was choreographed on nearly 15 dancers. Dasaavataaram is sometimes used in Nritta Tarangini because there is so much movement and variety in it. The choreography was done totally by Shanta Dhananjayan.

Dhananjayan depicted the incarnations with an originality and daring all his own.

"Dhananjayan's suggestive and sculpturesque poses, Shanta's crisp footwork and Sheila's graceful movements, combined beautifully to form a neat and cohesive piece."
