Lalitha Kala Vedika (BVS Mani Foundation) honored the Dhananjayans with a gold medal & citation in memory of BVSS Mani

On the first day, the Lalitha Kala Vedika Gold Medal was presented to Prof. T.N. Krishnan. However, owing to his ill-health, a representative (Mr.Muralidharan of Chennai Fine Arts) received it on his behalf. Sri. Thiruppoonthuruthy Venkatesan received the Cash Award in memory of Sri. B.V.S.S. Mani.

On the 2nd day, Sri. V.P.Dhananjayan was awarded the Lalitha Kala Vedika Gold Medal, while Smt. Ranganayaki Jayaraman received the Cash Award in memory of Smt. B. Lalitharatnam.

Sri. B.V.S.S. Mani & Smt. B. Lalitharatnam(Mrs. B.V.S.S. Mani) were great patrons of art & Founders of Lalitha Kala Vedika.

Dance India 2014

Dance India is the only residential international summer school for Indian dance in the UK. As a unique dance movement, the school supports the learning, development and performance of Indian dance across the globe, with schools now taking place in both the UK and Singapore.

The UK school based in Liverpool, provides an intensive week of training where participants completely immerse themselves in the world of Indian dance. During their stay, students take part in a wide range of activities, learning experiences and training opportunities. The focus of learning at the school is on technique.

At Dance India 2014 the focus of the teaching will be on the technical delivery of dance by giving the tutors the time to correct, refine and perfect each students technique. This means a move away from learning and focusing on a piece of repertoire. We believe that this will enhance the experience and value of learning with such an incredible faculty of teachers.

The second coming of MounakKural after18 years can be compared with that of the replanting of a tree. The tree remains the same, its soil similar but containing different nutrients. It's translocation being necessitated due to a requirement for more space and sunlight. Hopefully will bear fruits and flowers that will add health and freshness to the coming generations. The NAATYA (theatrical) representation of the text in many ways retains the original choreography. The text apart, this execution of Mounakkural is a journey. It is our intent to let it grow and change, move or travel, if it so wills.
