Apsaras Arts presented ANJANEYAM, Hanuman's Ramayana, at Kalaa Utsavam, with guest artistes VP Dhananjayan, CK Balagopalan, Hari Padman, Lavanya Ananth and Roshni Pillay Kesavan. Choreography is by Mohanapriyan Thavarajah, Jayanthi Subramaniam, Hari Padman and Osman Abdul Hamid. Music by Rajkumar Bharati, concept, script and direction by Aravinth Kumarasamy. Anjaneyam also feaured Era Dance Theatre (Singapore) and Bimo Dance Theatre (Indonesia) in a juxtaposition of Indian and Southeast Asian performance elements. At: Esplanade Theatre, 8 pm.

Commemorating the 70th independence day, on 15th August.

THIS YEAR'S NAATYARANGAM (Naarada Gana Sabha Naatya wing) presented "THYAAGA-BHARATAM" representing the 'Thyagis' of independence struggle (or war of independence). Several of our great freedom fighters' life unfolded in Bhaaratanaatyam and contemporary mode of Naatyam.

The Dhananjayan's Bharatakalanjali presented MAHAATMA GANDHI choreographed and directed by C.P.Satyajit. Satyajit's camio appearance as Gandhi and three other accomplished Bharatanaatyam artistes eulogizing Gandhi's sacrifices as 'Chaturvidha Abhinaya' - such as Aangikaabhinaya , aahaaryaabhina, vaachikaabhinaya and saathwikaabhinaya was a unique feature and special attraction in this Naatyarangam festival starting on 15th August at Narada Gana Sabha, TTK road Alwarpet at 6.30 p.m
