Brahma Gana Sabha's "PADMAM" Awards - 2015
Brahma Gana Sabha’s annual award function was held on 1st January 2016 at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium. A sizable Rasika’s turned up to cheer the awardees Sri. Parur M.S.Anantharaman (Violin), The Dhananjayans (Bharatanaatyam), Kudandai Mali (Drama) and Sri O.S.Thiagarajan (Carnatic vocal). The awards carried a purse of one lakh of Rupees cheque, endowed by Vijayakumar Reddy of Apollo family in memory of Sri.Obul Reddy and wife Gananmbal.Inaugurating the festival Sri. Ravi Viswanathan of TCS reiterated the responsibility of the Corporate Houses to support the Art and culture and praised Dr.Nally Kuppuswamy for his generous contributions toward all art activities, not only during December season, but also throughout the year.
Siezing the opportunity the recipient of he “Naatya Padam awardee , V.P.Dhananjayan effectively put forward a suggestion to the TCS and Nally to build proper Naatya Mandapam (equipped theater ) for the benefit of the Classical performing arts. The Rasikas and artistes applauded his suggestion and let the ball rolling.
