AN EXPERIENCE TO BE CHERISHED:
Great art through the ages has always enjoyed three characteristics. One, it is truly timeless and makes as much sense now as it did a hundred years ago. Two, it transcends barriers of language, demography or musical style. Hence, a padam from Tanjore or a piano sonata from Europe share equal room in our hearts. Last, the lives of the craftsmen - composers, painters, sculptors, scholars and their ilk are uniformly inspirational. Rising above human suffering and tests of endurance, these individuals have shown that true devotion to one's passion and craft can sustain the one ideal that all humankind strives for - the notion of immortality.

In "Light on the Path", - a tribute to these master magicians across times. From Kalidasa, who overcame penury and ignorance to become one of the most celebrated poets of all time, we move on to Annamacharya, Thyagaraja and Gopalakrishna Bharati, all of whom lived very humbly but in utmost devotion to their art. We also present a work by Beethoven, whose greatest compositions belie his deafness.

In presenting these works, we hope to reaffirm the notion that great art comes from a single-minded focus on our chosen path of personal expression. More importantly, it calls for an equally important and allied art of being able to rise above the limitations of being human.
